Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the amount of detecting reagent enough, increase the amount of absorption light and improve the reliability of measuring precision. SOLUTION: A formaldehyde detecting device 10 equips a detecting reagent reacting with formaldehyde to colorize. The detecting device 10 includes a detection element 30 which comprises: a base material 31 constituting an optical wave-guide transmitting a light with total reflection repeatedly: a mesoporous layer 32, which is surface of the base material 31, multi-layered at least on the one part of a light reflecting face and mounting the detecting reagent. Furthermore, this device comprises a light emitting object emitting light to the base material 31 and a light receiving object receiving the light emitted from the base material 31. And, this device comprises a signal processing part detecting the change of the optical characteristics based on the colorization with the reaction between formaldehyde and the detecting reagent and detecting formaldehyde from the change of the optical characteristics and measuring its concentration alike.
