Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium dioxide pigment of excellent weatherability, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The titanium dioxide pigment is such that the surface of titanium dioxide particles is borne with an anhydrous inorganic compound coating layer essentially containing dense anhydrous silica and a hydrous inorganic compound coating layer in this order. The method for producing the titanium dioxide pigment comprises the first step of heat-baking titanium dioxide particles whose surface is borne with the coating layer of a hydrous inorganic compound essentially containing hydrous silica to convert the coating layer to an anhydrous inorganic compound coating layer, and the second step of coating the above coating layer with a hydrous inorganic compound.
