Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective sheet for crucibles and a melting instrument. SOLUTION: The protective sheet 4 for crucibles is formed of expanded graphite and to be arranged between both crucibles of a crucible 1 having an inner crucible 2 and an outer crucible 3; and of which the total ash content is 100 mass ppm or less, and the weight ratio of specified elements among a plurality of impurities mixed is 3 mass ppm or less. Since the amount of the specified elements large in influencing product quality is suppressed, the occurrence of an abnormality in product quality can be prevented, although the quality as the whole of the sheet 4 is not so high. Accordingly, the manufacturing of the sheet 4 and the quality control of the sheet 4 becomes easy and the product quality can be maintained high while keeping the manufacturing cost low.
