Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microbial strain capable of efficiently producing MEL-C which is difficult to produce in a mass and a method for efficiently producing mannosyl erythritol lipid composed mainly of MEL-C by using the microbial strain. SOLUTION: The invention provides a microbial strain having a ribosome RNA gene containing a base sequence having ≥95% homology with the base sequence shown by the sequence number 1, having high MEL-C productivity and belonging to the genus Pseudozyma, and a method for producing mannosyl erythritol lipid by culturing the microbial strain in a medium containing oil-and-fat and separating produced mannosyl erythritol lipid composed mainly of MEL-C from the culture product.
