Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a filter for removing a harmful substance capable of effectively removing a harmful substance such as a dioxin and a pyrene which exists in atmosphere or develops from tobacco when smoking. SOLUTION: The filter comprises at least a two-chain DNA 1, a polymeric compound other than the DNA, and a body 2 of filter fibers wherein the polymeric compound does not affect deleteriously the effect on removing the harmful substance which belongs to the two-chain DNA 1, can be miscible with the two-chain DNA 1, and is capable of sticking to the body 2 of filter fibers by a physical force and/or a chemical bond, and the two-chain DNA 1 is supported as a mixture of the two-chain DNA 1 and the polymeric compound by the body 2 of filter fibers at least on the region through which a gas containing the harmful substance passes so as to be capable of catching the harmful compound by intercalation.
