Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation-type heater with an excellent firing characteristic even in a high altitude site. SOLUTION: This radiation-type heater 10 has a combustion cylinder 14 connected to a radiation unit 12, having one end 14a arranged in a zig-zag manner, that includes a plurality of radiation tubes 12a for heat radiation, and having the other end provided with a burner 11, a fan 16 for supplying air to the combustion cylinder 14, a pump 21 for injecting liquid fuel F from the burner 11, and a flexible start-up mechanism 22. A return route 22a is opened for returning the liquid fuel F, from an outlet side of the pump 21 to an inlet side of the pump 21 by means of the pressure rise, when starting up the pump 21, in the flexible start-up mechanism 22, and is closed thereafter.
