Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To self-diagnose a gas sensor as to having increased sensitivity. SOLUTION: In the gas sensor for periodically altering the sensor temperature to high temperature side and low temperature side, and for detecting methane on the high temperature side and CO on the low temperature side, the temperature on the high temperature side is decreased to an intermediate temperature, and the resistance value in the air is measured. When the ratio between the resistance value at the intermediate temperature and that at the high temperature side is small in the air, the sensitivity of the sensor is increased.
