Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an elevating mechanism and an elevating chair equipped with this elevating mechanism, which facilitate the assembly or repair with a simple structure and do not easily damage a driving system. SOLUTION: The elevating mechanism includes a fixing frame 12 including a hollow structure that extends in a vertical state or a tilted state, a flexible engaging material 14 stretched tightly so as to have many engaging sections in the fixing frame along the extending direction, a movable body 13 including a guide structure 13B guided by the fixing frame, a driving source 15 installed on the movable body, and a driving gear that is engaged with the flexible engaging material.
