Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic monitoring system of a shopping cart that can be easily introduced at low costs. SOLUTION: The automatic monitoring system comprises: a board mounted to a shopping cart, where at least any one of predetermined characters, logos, and patterns is expressed; a camera that is provided near the register or passage exit of a shop and photographs the front board of the shopping cart from an upper part, when at least the shopping cart approaches the register or the passage exit; an image processing section for processing images based on the output of the camera. The image processing section outputs a signal for indicating that there are no products remaining in the shopping cart, when at least one of the predetermined characters, logos, and patterns expressed on the board from the photographed image by the camera is detected.
