Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blue light emitting aluminum nitride material efficiently emitting blue light irrespective of the kind of excitation light source, and being composed of stable and safety elements. SOLUTION: This blue light emitting aluminum nitride material is prepared first by making a feed powder by adding carbon or a substance generating a carbon component by thermal decomposition, to an aluminum nitride (AlN) powder, a silicon nitride (Si3N4) powder or an Si source such as silicon oxide (SiO2), which can be converted to silicon nitride by reductive nitrogenation, and a Eu source which is europium oxide (Eu2O3) powder, or europium nitrate, europium acetate, etc., which can be Eu2O3by a thermal treatment process or can be europium nitride (EuN) by reductive nitrogenation, and the feed powder is reduced in a nitrogen atmosphere, then it is consecutively sintered.
