Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device for an electric power steering capable of continuously controlling driving of an AC motor without using a detection value of a motor current at abnormality of detection of the motor current. SOLUTION: The motor drive device for the electric power steering is provided with a control system for outputting a motor current instruction value Vo2 from a speed controller 262 according to a speed instruction value ωo outputted from a speed instruction unit 260, a current instruction value Io and a motor speed value ωs in addition to a control system for outputting a first motor voltage instruction value Vo1 from a current controller 223 according to the current instruction value Io outputted from a current instruction unit 222 and a motor current value Is.
