OBSTACLE DETECTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection system capable of shortening an obstacle detection time while enhancing obstacle detection accuracy by concentrating a characteristic area of the obstacle becoming an object to be detected to an upper part of a photographed image. SOLUTION: A photographing device is mounted such that a downward inclination angle θ (°) becomes 2.0×hc-2≤θ≤1.8×hc+1 when mounting height hc(m) to the vehicle is 1.0≤hc≤2.5. The photographed image data are obtained by the photographing device, and existence of the obstacle is detected based on the extracted characteristic area by the upper part of the image of the characteristic area extracted from the obtained image.
