Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and effectively suppress a relative displacement amount in the predetermined direction without having a complicated mechanism in an electric discharge machine. SOLUTION: In the electric discharge machine 1, electric discharge is generated between poles D of an electrode 6 and a workpiece W, and the workpiece W is machined by electric discharge energy. Outside air of previously experimentally obtained air flow where the change of the relative position between the electrode 6 and the workpiece W in the predetermined direction accompanying temperature change becomes minimum is supplied to the interior or the outer surface of one side portion where thermal response speed in the predetermined direction to the temperature change is slow among the two portions which generate the change of the relative position between the electrode 6 and the workpiece W in the predetermined direction.
