PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data update method, a software program, and a communication system using the data update method for carrying out writing processing without making any mistake of a combination between an application file and a configuration data file corresponding to it for realizing a stable system. SOLUTION: When access to a file server 1, which has an application file 3, the configuration data file 4 including various parameters, and first type correspondence information 5 representing correspondence between a file name of the application file 3 and the configuration data file 4, is made for selecting the application file 3 desired for downloading through the file name of the application file 3, the configuration data file 4 corresponding to the selected application file 3 is specified in the file server 1 by referring to the first type correspondence information 5, and the configuration data file 4 and the selected application file 3 are distributed to a terminal apparatus 2.
