AIRBAG DEVICE FOR COLLISION FROM REAR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for collision from the rear, which enables an airbag to be compactly stored in a storage space in the rear of a vehicle roof having a limited size, and which can exhibit sufficient deployment performance. SOLUTION: In the airbag device for collision from the rear, the airbag 32 shows larger width toward its bottom side at the time of deployment, and an extra-long shape extending in the vehicle-width direction when folded upward. Then folding parts 45 are provided to both of its outer ends. Thus, the airbag 32 is formed in a shape for storage having a length in accordance with the width of the upper end part of a rear window 18. The airbag 32 is stored in the storage space 34 which is in the rear of the roof 21 of the vehicle, and which is in the upper position than the rear window 18. Then the airbag 32 is expanded and deployed from the interior of the storage space 34 to the lower position by the gas from an inflator, and covers the nearly entire rear window 18. Furthermore, direction-changing parts 58 are provided to the outside of both of the outer ends of the airbag 32 which is formed in a shape for storage, and the direction-changing parts 58 change the flow direction of the inflow of the gas from the outside of the vehicle-width direction to the lower position at the time of deployment of both of the outer ends.
