INTEGRAL ORGANIC LIGHT-EMITTING DIODE PRINT HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact light-weight integral print head. SOLUTION: The compact lightweight print head capable of performing direct quasi-contact printing includes an OLED structure deposited onto a substrate 12 is designed for contact or quasi-contact printing without additional optical elements, and achieves desired pixel sharpness and reduced crosstalk. Two different arrangements are disclosed. In one of them, at least one OLED element array includes at least one triplet of OLED elements. Each element in each triplet is capable of emitting light in a distinct wavelength range different from the distinct wavelength range of the other two color filters in the same triplet. In the second one, the print head includes at least one triplets 18, 20, 22 of individually addressable OLED elements.
