FIXING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of reducing curling of a recording medium. SOLUTION: The fixing device 1 heats a recording medium P with an image transferred thereto, while sandwiching the recording medium P between a heat roller 3 and an endless belt 4, thereby fixing the image to the recording medium P. The fixing device 1 includes: a pressure contact pad 10 that presses the endless belt 4 against the heat roller 3; a pressure adjustment means 11 that adjusts the pressing force of the pressure contact pad 10; and slip detection means 6 and 7 that detect slip of the recording medium P over the heat roller 3. If the slip detection means 6 and 7 detect the slip of the recording medium P over the heat roller 3, the pressing force of the pressure pad 10 is increased by the pressure adjustment means 11.
