Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel color filter for a transmissive display which has color purity and transmissivity higher than that of a conventional color filtercolor, for enabling improvement in reproducibility of the transmissive display or the like using a liquid crystal or the like, and low power consumption. SOLUTION: The color filter (F) for the transmissive display uses a photonic crystal (C) capable of selectively reflecting light having a specific wave length as a main structural material. The color filter, in concrete terms, has a structure having laminated bodies (L) of at least 3 kinds of the photonic crystals which are arranged in the planar direction and at least one laminated body (L) of the photonic crystal is preferably formed by laminating at least 2 photonic crystals (C) each having a different structural period.
