PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a home network device capable of operating according to the power ON/OFF state of a device which is connected to a home network and has a video recording function. SOLUTION: A home network system 5 comprises the home network device 6, and a video recording reservation information sending-out device 7 and a video recording and reproducing devices 8 and 9 connected thereto, and the home network device 6 has an interface circuit for connection with the Internet 4 where a mail server 2 and the video recording reservation information sending-out device 3 are connected, and home network 10. The home network device 6 monitors video recording reservation information output to video recording and reproducing devices 8 and 9 in a home network system 5, and makes, for example, the video recording and reproducing device 8 make a reservation for video recording when the video recording and reproducing device 8 is a target of the video recording reservation and in a wake-up state.
