Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thin a fuel cell stack as a whole by thinning one unit cell. SOLUTION: An anode 37 and a cathode 39 comprising a catalyst layer each are installed on both surfaces of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 35, and an anode side separator 17 and a cathode side separator 19 each are installed on the surfaces on the opposite side to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 35 of the catalyst layers. The separators 17, 19 have reaction gas passages 17a, 19a respectively, and a portion coming in contact with the catalyst layer is formed in a porous carbon layer 41 forming a gas diffusion part capable of passing the reaction gas by the permeation of reaction gas, and other portions are formed in a dense solid carbon layer 43 becoming a gas non-permeation part.
