Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method capable of securing stability of sustain discharge when driving a display panel having such a structure that respective pixel cells are separated into display cells and selection cells. SOLUTION: Negative sustain pulses IPy, IPx are respectively applied to a first row electrode Y and a second row electrode X constituting a row electrode pair in a sustain period and, concurrently with the start of rising of the negative sustain pulse IPy applied to the first row electrode or before the start of rising thereof, the falling of the negative sustain pulse IPx applied to the second row electrode is started.
