Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element in which the reflectance is improved and the incidence of stray light is prevented on a reflection face. SOLUTION: The optical element (prism) 10 is composed of glass, has a first face 11, a second face 12 and a reflection face 13, and so formed that a light beam made incident substantially perpendicular to the center 11a of the first face 11 is reflected at the center of the reflection face and emitted from the center of the emitting face. The arithmetic average roughness values on the peripheral parts 11b, 12b and 13b of the first face 11, the second face 12 and the reflection face 13 are greater than those on the central parts 11a, 12a and 13a of the surfaces, respectively.
