Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a failure detection device capable of identifying which of light-emitting diodes is out of order and maintaining the normal lightening of light-emitting diodes by avoiding for all light-emitting diodes to be turned off due to the disconnection of a curcuit when a light-emitting diode has a disconnection failure. SOLUTION: A failure detection device having a plurality of serially-connected light-emitting elements 21a-21f and a current detecting portion 31 which detects a current flowing in the light-emitting elements, and detecting any of the light-emitting elements causing a disconnection failure by means of the output of the current detecting portion, is characterized by having a plurality of switches 41a-41f parallely connected to each light-emitting element, a control part 51 which controls on and off of the switches, and a judging portion 52 which judges which of light-emitting elements is out of order based on the output of the current detecting portion and the on and off information of the plurality of switches.
