DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ON-LINE CHARACTER RECOGNITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that in the case of recognizing a character by finding correspondence of a stroke of an input pattern and a stroke of a standard pattern, correspondence of the input pattern and the standard pattern is failed to be found if a stroke is interrupted or a stroke is omitted like a cursive character and the like and thus the character can not be recognized correctly. SOLUTION: When relative line density distribution features between strokes based upon the pen moving directions at respective coordinate points are extracted by using two-dimensional pattern information and coordinate point information, the distances between the relative line density distribution features and relative position distribution features of respective standard characters stored in a standard pattern dictionary 58 are calculated to discriminate an object character to be recognized.
