VERTICAL INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING TRANSMISSION COVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve lubricity in respective lubricating places when starting operation, by splashing new oil on a crankshaft and a valve gear in a process until the oil injected from an oil filler port reaches an oil pan. SOLUTION: This vertical internal combustion engine E has: the crankshaft 27 stored in a crankcase; the valve gear having a camshaft 41a and stored in a valve system chamber; a transmission mechanism 60 having a chain 63 and stored in a chain chamber; and a transmission cover 70 covering the transmission mechanism 60 from above and joined to an upper end part of an engine body. The oil filler port 75 injecting the oil stored in the oil pan, is arranged in the transmission cover 70. The oil injected into the chain chamber from the oil filler port 75, reaches the oil pan via the crankcase and the valve system chamber.
