Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater which utilizes heat energy remaining in hot water used for prescribed purposes such as remaining hot water in a bathtub, for heating water with a simple structure. SOLUTION: As the heat energy of the remaining hot water in the bathtub 30 is recovered by the water flowing out of a lower portion of a hot water storage tank 10 heated by a gas cooler 22, it is unnecessary to recover the heat energy of the remaining hot water in the bathtub 30 by a refrigerant circulating in a refrigerant circuit of a heat pump unit 20, and the heat energy of the remaining hot water in the bathtub 30 is utilized in heating the water with the simple structure of only piping for circulating the water.
