PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device capable of removing charges to be applied to a magnetic disk during the operation of a loading/unloading type magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: The loading/unloading type magnetic disk device is provided with a magnetic disk rotary-driven by a motor, and a head slider having a magnetic head movable on the magnetic disk by a driving mechanism. At least one projection made of a highly conductive material is formed in the surface of the magnetic disk side of the head slider. During the operation of the magnetic disk device, energization of a spindle motor is stopped after each passage of a predetermined time, the floating height of the floating head slider is lowered to bring the projection into contact with the magnetic disk, and charges applied on the magnetic disk are discharged through the head slider to the casing side of the magnetic disk device.
