Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of engine restartability caused by a control shaft rotating in the minimum lift control direction by spring reaction force of a valve spring at the stop of the engine. SOLUTION: This variable valve gear is equipped with a variable mechanism 4 for variably controlling the lift amount of each intake valve 2, a control mechanism 5 for controlling an operating position of the variable mechanism 4 according to the rotational position of the control shaft 32, and an electric motor 35 for driving and controlling the rotational position of the control shaft 32 according to the operational state of the engine. When the engine is stopped, the control shaft 32 is rotatingly moved by spring force of the valve spring 3 for energizing the control shaft 32 in the closing direction, and a spring force of a coil spring 55 for energizing the control shaft 32. Thereby, the lift amount of the intake valve is controlled so that it becomes a lift region between the minimum lift region and the maximum lift region. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
