Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based coating composition that can improve working efficiency, can achieve the reduction of energy, and can give a multilayer coating having excellent external appearance and water resistance when the multilayer coating is formed by the wet-on-wet method using a water-based coating. SOLUTION: The water-based coating composition comprises, based on 100 pts.mass of a resin solid content in the coating composition, (a) 40-60 pts.mass of an emulsion resin obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a monomer mixture containing 0.5-10 mass% of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer (relative to all monomer components), a carboxy group-containing vinyl monomer, a hydroxy group-containing vinyl monomer, and other polymerizable vinylic monomers, (b) 1-5 pts.mass of an amido group-containing water-soluble acrylic resin, (c) 5-20 pts.mass of an urethan emulsion, and (d) 15-35 pts.mass of a curing agent.
