Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an odorant for fuels which does not pollute the environment, because of no production of sulfur oxides on burning, nor have adverse effects on the fuel gas, without poisoning of the catalyst, when used in e.g. a fuel gas for fuel cells. SOLUTION: The odorant for fuels, e.g. fuel gases or liquid fuels, comprises one or more sulfur-free compounds selected from propionaldehyde, 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrane, diallyl ether, 1-hexyne, butylaldehyde, isovaleraldehyde, cis-3-hexen-1-ol, 1-octen-3-ol, t-2-octen-1-ol, allyl methyl ether, allyl phenyl ether, 4-methyl-1-cyclohexene, 1-hexen-3-ol, 4-methyl-2-pentanol, 3,3-dimethyl-2-butanol, trimethyl orthoacetate and trimethyl orthoformate.
