Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently separating toluene from a mixture containing toluene and n-heptane which form an azeotrope and are difficult to separate by distillation operation with reduced consumption of energy. SOLUTION: In separating toluene from a mixture raw material containing toluene and n-heptane, the mixture raw material is brought into contact with hydroxyethyl-β-cyclodextrin or hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin to form a clathrate complex of hydroxyethyl-β-cyclodextrin or hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin and toluene, and separating toluene.
