Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a consumable electrode used to obtain a high melting point active alloy reduced in component segregation. SOLUTION: The consumable electrode is used to manufacture an alloy containing a high melting point active metal. This consumable electrode is characterized in that when the overall length of the consumable electrode is represented by L and, further, a first top part, a second top part, a central part, a second bottom part and a first bottom part represent, from the end on the top side, a portion with a length of 0/12L to 1/12L, a portion with a length of 1/12L to 2/12L, a portion with a length of 2/12L to 10/12L, a portion with a length of 10/12L to 11/12L and a portion with a length of 11/12L to 12/12L, respectively, and further, the average mass% concentration, in the central part, of an element normally segregating with respect to the high melting point active metal is represented by X, the concentration of the above normally segregating element in the first top part ranges from 0.6X to 0.95X and the concentration of the above normally segregating element in the second top part ranges from 0.6X to 1X.
