Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of obtaining a correct print result even when irregularity of a printing surface is large. SOLUTION: A printer 100 comprises a head 10 for discharging an ink, a cartridge 20 holding the head 10, a controller 50 for controlling the movement of the head 10 held by the cartridge 20 and the timing of the discharge of an ink from the head 10, and a distance-measuring sensor for detecting the distance between the head 10 and a print. The controller 50 controls the timing of the discharge of an ink from the head 10 based on the detection result of the distance-measuring sensor, and can move the head 10 held by the cartridge 20 in the direction intersecting the XY plane (Z-axis direction), which is the printing surface of the print, based on the detection result of the distance-measuring sensor.
