FIXING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING LIGHTING OF FLASH LAMP FOR FIXING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal lighting of a flash lamp by electrically disconnecting a capacitor from the flash lamp, until the capacitor reaches previously determined charged quantity from the start of charging. SOLUTION: In a parallel circuit, formed by the flash lamp 48 and the capacitor 80 in a flash drive part 72 of a fixing device 10, a switching element 76 is connected to a position for electrically disconnecting the flash lamp 48 from the capacitor 80. The switching element 76 maintains off-state, until the capacitor 80 reaches the previously determined charged quantity from the start of charging. When the charged quantity of the capacitor 80 reaches the previously determined charged quantity, a flash control board 70 turns the switching element 76 to on-state, on the basis of a signal inputted from a flash power supply 74, voltage is applied to a trigger coil 82, and the flash lamp is turned on.
