MOTION VECTOR DETECTION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector detection apparatus for detecting a motion vector by properly increasing the number of arithmetic object regions while suppressing the arithmetic amount. SOLUTION: A reference image macro block searching movement section 11 adopts a reference image macroblock M1 from which a minimum evaluation calculation value is obtained for a searching start position, and moves for searching the reference image macro block M1 from the searching start position according to a searching pattern. An evaluation calculation section 12 executes the evaluation calculation to detect minimum values from the evaluation calculation values by the number of searching movement times of the reference image macroblock M1 instructed by the searching pattern per one time so as to detect a lowest value among the minimum values. When the reference image macroblock M1 is moved for searching in a vertical direction, a searching pattern generating section 13 establishes extended searching for the searching pattern to extend the searching movement range bridged over between fields. A motion vector detection section 14 detects a motion vector between a reference image macroblock with the lowest value and a raw image macroblock. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
