Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail which is high in rigidity, excellent in stability, increased in wear limit, and facilitates conduction of inspections. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the rail 2, an upper portion of a rail web 2c is almost the same in width as a rail head 2a, while a lower portion of the rail web 2c is almost the same in width as a rail bottom 2b, and the width of the rail is increased from the upper portion to the lower portion of the rail web 2c. Therefore the thickness of the rail web 2c is thicker than that of a conventional rail, and therefore not only the rigidity of the rail 2 can be increased but also the center of gravity of the rail 2 is lowered, which leads to increased stability of the rail when the rail is laid. Further the height of the rail head 2a is higher than that of the conventional rail, and therefore the wear limit of the rail 2 can be increased. Furthermore the width of the rail web 2c is wider than that of the conventional rail, and therefore flaw detection of the almost overall cross sectional area of the rail can be conducted beginning from the rail head 2a during non-destructive inspection.
