Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron-emitting element in which electric power consumed for electron emission is smaller. SOLUTION: The electron-emitting element 10 is provided with a lower part electrode 12, an emitter 13 consisting of dielectrics, and an upper part electrode 14 formed at the upper part of the emitter part 13 so as to oppose to the lower part electrode 12 and to pinch the emitter part 13. A plurality of fine through holes 14c are formed at the upper part electrode 14. The upper part electrode 14 is arranged/constituted at the upper part of the emitter part 13 so that a distance (gap distance) t1 between a lower face of the upper part electrode 14 and an upper face of the emitter part 13 in the vicinity range of the fine through holes 14c will become nearly constant irrespective of the fine through holes 14c.
