OPTICAL MODULE ASSEMBLING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module assembling method capable of fixing at low cost an optical connector housing and optical fibers with a stable connecting property. SOLUTION: This assembling method of an optical module having optical fibers 2, 3, FOTs (Fiber Optic Transceivers) 4, 5, an FOT case 8, and a holder 9, by mounting the FOT case 8 with optical fibers 2, 3 and the FOTs 4, 5, by fixing the mounted optical fibers 2, 3 to the holder 9, is to form an optically coupled state. In this method, FOTs 4, 5 are attached to the FOT mounting part 6 of the FOT case 8, with the tip end of the optical fibers 2, 3 inserted into the optical fiber inserting holes 14, 15 of the FOT case 8 and guided to the FOTs 4, 5. Further, with the holder 9 fitted to the holder fitting hole 16 of the FOT case 8, and with a laser beam thereafter emitted to the jackets of the optical fibers 2, 3 through the holder 9, the holder 9 and the jackets of the optical fibers 2, 3 are welded by the action of the laser beam.
