Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizing element which has an alignment structure of dichroic pigment developed and is further improved in polarizing performance, by controlling the vaporizing speed of a solvent in a film forming process, after alignment thin film of the dichroic pigment is formed by coating. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the polarizing element, by forming a coating film by coating a base with a coating material prepared, by dissolving the dichroic pigment in the solvent and drying the coating film includes, a step of placing the coating film in an environment, wherein the saturation vapor amount or vaporization of the solvent contained in the coating material is impossible and suspending the drying of the coating material, and a step of carrying on the drying of the coating material after the drying has been temporarily suspended.
