PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance retrieval performance for electronic files, while adopting nonhierarchical/nonclassified structure as a storage system for the electronic files. SOLUTION: This information management method for managing electronic articles and the electronic files has an article field group for recording information as to the electronic articles, and a file field group for recording information as to the electronic files, stores a record allocated by one to the one electronic file, in a record storage means, and retrieves the record corresponding to a retrieval request from the record storage means.
