Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and highly stable hydrodynamic fluid bearing device having less friction loss and wear at starting/stopping. SOLUTION: The hydrodynamic fluid bearing device comprises a sleeve 2, a shaft 1 rotatable relative to the sleeve 2, and lubricating fluid 5 filled in a gap between the shaft 1 and the sleeve 2. In one of an inner peripheral face 2a of the sleeve 2 and the outer peripheral face of the shaft 1, a big gap portion 10 having a big gap to the opposite peripheral face, a small gap portion 12 having a small gap to the opposite peripheral face, and a separation groove 18 are formed. The ratio (θp/θ1) of a peripheral angle θpof a recessed portion having the big gap portion 10 and the separation groove 18 combined, to a peripheral angle θ1of the small gap portion is set in a range of 2.3-4.0.
