Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method for a rotary walking beam conveying apparatus, radically minimizing rolling and slip-down of a pipe occurring when a walking beam transfers the pipe, whereby misalignment of the end of the pipe can be prevented. SOLUTION: According to this design method, in the case of selecting the reference diameter within the range of the maximum diameter and minimum diameter of the pipe treated by the processing machines 5, 6, and using the pipe with the reference diameter, it is designed so that the heights of the valley bottom positions of V-valleys of pipe receiving parts 7, 8 are aligned with the heights of valley bottom positions of V-valleys of elevating type V-stands 12, 13. Further, it is designed so that the radius R of rotation of the walking beam 8 is made half as large as the horizontal pitch 2R between the valley bottom positions of the V-valleys of the pipe receiving parts 7, 9 and the valley bottom positions of V-valleys of the elevating type V-stands 12, 13, whereby when a driving arm 14 of the walking beam 8 is horizontal, the valley bottom position of the V-valley of V-stand 16 of the walking beam 8 is aligned with the valley bottom positions of V-valleys of the pipe receiving parts 7, 9, and also the valley bottom position of the V-valley of the V-stand 16 of the walking beam 8 is aligned with the valley bottom positions of the V-valleys of the elevating V-valley stands 12, 13.
