Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the volume of food waste efficiently in a short time and obtain an easy-to-handle treated product, i.e. compost. SOLUTION: The method for fermentation of food waste comprises charging food waste into a stirring vessel 10, while adding return compost to adjust the moisture content, to stir the resultant mixture, granulating the stirred mixture and transferring to the first fermentation vessel 11 to ferment with warming through aeration and addition of moisture, granulating the fermented product and transferring the next fermentation vessel to ferment with warming through aeration and addition of moisture, with the fermentation process carried out once or repeated twice or more, transferring the fermented product to the last treatment vessel 15 to pelletize in dry form, and circulating a part of the dried pellets to the stirring vessel 10 as return compost while discharging the remainder as the treated product.
