CHIP SET EMULATION DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for rapidly testing a chip set while enhancing the effectiveness of the test. SOLUTION: When testing operation is started, a maintenance console specifies a configuration pattern for a new model to be evaluated in a conventional unit held in a chip set configuration table, then starts a computer system, and then specifies environment/configuration information of the conventional unit to carry out hand-off to a BIOS execution part. The chip set configuration table outputs an address storing the new model configuration pattern specified by the maintenance console, to a memory, and the memory outputs the specified address to the BIOS execution part. When hand-off is carried out by the maintenance console, the BIOS execution part sets a hardware initial value of the chip set of the conventional unit and environment/configuration information of the conventional unit specified by the maintenance console, to a register, and activates the address sent from the memory.
