SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING ELEMENT POSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system and method for estimating an element position in which the element position can be more highly accurately estimated. SOLUTION: An element position estimating system comprises: reference stations 3-6 which are provided at known positions and radiate radio waves; a reference element positioning section 2 for positioning a reference element; a propagation distance difference operating section 7 for determining a distance difference obtained by subtracting the distance between an element antenna and a reference station from the distance between the reference element and the reference station; a temporary position calculating section 8 for creating W first relational expressions using a temporary relative vector of the element antenna and for determining the temporary relative vector by solving the W first relational expressions; an approximate error calculating section 9 for determining an approximate error by means of a predetermined expression from a difference between a distance difference which is determined without approximation, and a distance difference which is determined with approximation; and a position calculating section 10 for creating W second relational expressions and for estimating the relative vector of the element antenna on the basis of the reference element by solving the W second relational expressions.
