PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact zoom lens having a zoom ratio larger than 3 with an image stabilizer and suitable for the photographic optical system of an imaging device such as a digital still camera and a digital camcorder, and to provide an imaging device incorporating this zoom lens. SOLUTION: This zoom lens 1 is composed of a first lens group G1 having negative refractivity, a second lens group G2 having positive refractivity, and a third lens group G3 all arranged in this order from the object side, and moves the above first lens group toward the optical axis and the above second lens group toward the object in the optical axis direction when changing the magnification from the wide angle end to telescopic end.
