SOLUTION: The polymer has a cycloaliphatic cycloolefin unit on the aromatic ring in a polystyrene or a styrene copolymer. The method for producing the polymer comprises the addition of a cycloolefin to an aromatic ring of polystyrene or a styrene copolymer in the presence of a protonic acid catalyst.
