Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver in which display of the number of words in subtitle can be prevented from changing unsuitably when a broadcast including subtitle data is received and the number of words in subtitle is displayed. SOLUTION: Under a state where only subtitle management data can be received, a subtitle management section 33 determines the number of words according to the number of words information included in the subtitle management data. Under a state where only subtitle sentence data can be received and a state where both data can be received, the subtitle management section 33 determines the number of words according to number of words information included in the subtitle sentence data.
