Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide metal matrix composite powder, even when nanocarbon fibers represented by carbon nanotubes or the like are used as reinforcing fibers, in which these reinforcing fibers can be uniformly dispersed/oriented into a metal matrix at a high content, and with which a composite material having excellent various properties can be produced without the restriction of shape; to provide its production method; to provide a method for producing a metal matrix composite material using the composite powder; and to provide the metal matrix composite material. SOLUTION: Child particles 12 composed of short fibers are stuck to the surface and inside of each monolithic matrix particle 11 made of metal so as to be metal matrix composite powder 10.
