Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersion for ink jet, excellent in disperse stability and storage stability and free from change of characteristics, particularly in high-temperature storage and to provide a method for producing the dispersion and to provide a pigment-based ink for ink jet using the pigment dispersion. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the pigment dispersion for ink jet by dispersing a mixture containing at least the pigment, dispersion and water, the disperse is carried out by using an alkali ion water as the water.
